Delivery

Direct Delivery available to Mainland UK addresses only. Estimated delivery time 2-5 working days. 

We will dispatch orders received by midday that same day and our chosen courier will deliver direct to your door. You will need to be in to sign for the delivery, and bikes will be delivered 'built and ready to ride'. This means one of our trained, expert mechanics has fully assembled your bike in our workshop, applied protective packaging and re-boxed it for our courier to deliver it to you. After delivery you only need to make minor adjustments.

Please note - we complete the same pre-departure assembly on folding electric bikes, but dispatch them folded in their original box.

Sometimes occasional delays are possible due to conditions outside of our control. Whilst we work hard to deliver within the provided timescales, we are unable to guarantee dates and times for delivery.

Checking Your Order - At point of delivery we kindly request that you please check your order for any signs of damage - even if you do not intend to use your item immediately - at which time you can sign for as damaged with the courier or reject the delivery. Please report any damages to our customer service team by calling on 0333 0505 707 or emailing info@straightspoke.com.  Any claims for damages or discrepancies must be submitted within 3 days of receipt of your goods and we request images of the damage for our records.

On arrival please complete the following:

  1. Remove the electric bike and any documentation/spare parts boxes from the outer carton and take off any protective packaging.
  2. With the bike on the ground or in a work stand, loosen the bolts on the handlebar stem where it meets the fork, line the handlebars up to the front wheel and re-tighten.
  3. In some cases you may also need to adjust the handlebar angle. To do this please loosen the bolts on the front of the handlebar stem where it meets the handlebars and rotate the bars until it is in a comfortable position, then re-tighten bolts.
  4. Your left pedal will already be fitted, so take the unfitted pedal and screw it clockwise into the threaded hole on your crank arm. We trial fit these prior to dispatch to ensure there is no cross-threading, so please take extra care when fitting.
  5. Adjust your saddle height if necessary by loosening the seat clamp and adjusting it to a suitable height. We recommend that your knee is slightly bent at the bottom of each pedal stroke whilst sat comfortably.
  6. Double check that every bolt you have adjusted is tight.
  7. We recommend charging your e-bike to full capacity before you ride it to help the long-term health of your battery. To see if there is sufficient level of charge please check the handlebar display.

Please note all items should be checked upon delivery, even if you are not planning on using your item straight away. Although we strive to ensure that all of our products are carefully packaged and delivered to our customers, unfortunately there may be rare occasions when an item arrives faulty or damaged. 

In the event of receiving a faulty item, we please ask that you either:

Reject the item upon delivery
OR
Sign for the item as damaged and then forward on details of the issue plus any supporting images within 3 working days to info@straightspoke.com
Please be aware that we cannot accept damaged claims after 3 working days of receipt of the order.
Any replacements for items that have been agreed upon by our team as faulty/damaged will be sent to you free of postage charges.

Returns

Changed your mind about your order? Not a problem – simply let us know within 14 days of receipt of your goods that you wish to return your unwanted goods. You then have a further 14 days to return the item(s) to us.

We kindly request that you put your returns request in writing to us and state whether you would like a refund, exchange or replacement.  Please inform us of your request via email at returns@straightspoke.com and we will do our best to respond within 1-2 working days.

Please note that you are liable for any transportation costs incurred to return your item(s).

Please be aware that any unwanted goods should be returned to us unused, in their original packaging, and in the condition in which you received them. Please check that all instructions and fixings for your item are included with your return. If your order comes in multiple boxes, please ensure that all parts are returned to us in their original packing and in their original received condition.

Please ensure that you also request proof of postage from your chosen courier and notify us of your return tracking information at returns@straightspoke.com.

All returns should be sent in original packaging.  If you are unable to repackage the item please note a £20 charge will apply for the cost of replacement packaging.

Please be aware that we will need to inspect and approve a return before issuing any refunds.

The team processes the refund to your original method of payment within 3-5 working days of confirming that we have received your item(s). The return of the funds into your account is then dependant on the end processor, e.g. your bank, Paypal, Amazon Pay, etc.

For items that are returned to us as unwanted, we will refund the original paid price of the item itself only - the delivery charge is not included in your refund.

If you have requested a replacement or exchange of your goods, this will be sent out once we have received and approved your return.

We reserve the right to withhold part or all of a refund should any unwanted goods not be returned to us in their original condition. A re-stocking fee may also apply.

Our Story

Our cycling fascination began when we moved to Cambridge, UK and immediately embraced the ethos of this city, with bicycles lining every street, path, alleyway and even the surrounding woods.
The more we wanted to explore the more obvious it became that we needed to match our speed and endurance, so pedal assisted bikes were the way to go.
We became increasingly fascinated with all the various options out there, hence our online e-bike store was born. We give special focus to easy access, smaller, low step through frames because we struggled to easily identify those ourselves as shoppers, and we wish to support other seekers out there.

Our Vision

We take responsibility for our legacy and focus on a future when people no longer rely on fossil fuels to power their means of transportation.
As early adopters for electric cars as well, from back in the day when fully electric cars were so rare on the roads that drivers would salute each other when driving by, we take pride in doing our bit for the environment.
We turn off the tap when we brush our teeth. We use rain water for the garden, since there's plenty of that in the UK. And we promote electric bikes as a means to stay healthy and fit, enjoying the outdoors for longer.

FAQ

General

Can I ride an electric bike on the roads if I don't have a driver's license?

Yes, anyone over 14 years of age is allowed to ride e-bikes on roads without license, road tax or registration.

Is it legal to ride electric bikes on the roads in UK?

We sell only road legal e-bikes, which generally refer to electrically assisted pedal cycles with an electric motor power output of maximum 250 watts, reaching a maximum speed of 15.5 mph when the motor is engaged. Any bikes exceeding these numbers will be subject to regulations.

What payment options do you offer?

Can I still use my discount code after I have completed my order?

Discount codes can only be applied before completing an order, during the checkout process.

Can I cancel an order I have already placed?

An order may be cancelled or amended before dispatch, however after dispatch the buyer will be liable for the return courier cost.

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes, we offer free delivery on orders over £500, and during certain promotional periods. All discounts are made clearly visible on our website, and during the checkout process.

Is it safe to ride an electric bike in the rain?

Yes, the products we sell are safe for riding in the rain and going through puddles. Please take care with electrical parts when cleaning, power washers are not advised for any bike.

Can I ride my e-bike like a regular bicycle?

Yes, electric bikes can be used as conventional push bikes, engaging the motor for assistance only in certain instances, like climbing a hill, for example.

Do I have to remove the battery for charging?
