FAQ

E-Bikes

Is it legal to ride electric bikes on the roads in the UK?

We sell only road legal e-bikes, which generally refer to electrically assisted pedal cycles with an electric motor power output of maximum 250 watts, reaching a maximum speed of 15.5 mph when the motor is engaged. Any bikes exceeding these numbers will be subject to regulations.

Is it safe to ride an electric bike in the rain?

Yes, the e-bikes we sell are safe for riding in the rain and going through puddles. Please take care with electrical parts when cleaning — power washers are not advised for any bike.

Can I ride my e-bike like a regular bicycle?

Yes, electric bikes can be used as conventional push bikes, engaging the motor for assistance only when needed — such as climbing a hill.

Do I have to remove the battery for charging?

Please refer to individual product descriptions. If in doubt, drop us a message.

Can I ride an electric bike on the roads if I don't have a driver's licence?

Yes, anyone over 14 years of age is allowed to ride road legal models of e-bikes on roads without a licence, road tax or registration.

Trampolines

What trampoline sizes do you offer?

We stock a wide range of trampolines from compact 7ft x 5ft models up to large 14ft x 8ft rectangular options, as well as popular round sizes including 8ft, 10ft, 12ft, 13ft, and 14ft. Whether you have a small garden or a large outdoor space, we have a size to suit.

What is the difference between Comfort, Premium, First Class, and Royal Baseground editions?

Our Salta trampoline range is tiered by build quality and features. The Comfort Edition is our entry-level range offering great value. The Premium Edition steps up with enhanced padding and frame quality. The First Class Edition is our top above-ground model with superior springs and safety features. The Royal Baseground range is designed to sit at ground level, offering a sleek, low-profile look and added safety — ideal for younger children.

What is an InGround trampoline?

InGround trampolines are installed flush with the ground, sitting in a dug-out pit in your garden. They offer a cleaner aesthetic and a lower fall height, making them a popular choice for families. Please note that installation requires ground preparation.

Do your trampolines come with an enclosure?

Most of our trampolines include a safety enclosure net as standard. Royal Baseground models without enclosure are also available. Please check individual product listings for details.

Do you sell trampoline accessories?

Yes — we stock weather covers in a range of sizes to protect your trampoline year-round, trampoline ladders for easy access, and goal sets in small, medium, and large sizes for added fun. A tie-down kit is also available for securing your trampoline in windy conditions.

What age and weight limits apply to your trampolines?

Age and weight limits vary by model. Please refer to the individual product description for specific guidance. As a general rule, Royal Baseground and InGround models are well-suited to younger children due to their lower height.

What voltage are the kids' ride-on cars and motorbikes?

We stock both 12V and 24V models. The 12V models are suited to younger children (ages 3–8), while the 24V motorbike is designed for older children (ages 8–12) and offers greater power and speed. Full specifications are listed on each product page.

Do I need to assemble the shed myself?

What is an inflatable tent and how does it work?

Inflatable tents use air beams instead of traditional poles. Simply connect the included pump, inflate the beams, and your tent is ready in minutes — no fiddly poles required. They are robust, easy to pitch, and ideal for family camping trips.

Why Choose Us

Straight Spoke is a year-round family adventure store built to help people get outdoors, stay active, and enjoy life together.

Our Story

The idea for Straight Spoke started with a simple frustration — finding well-designed, practical cycling products that actually suited real people, not just specialist riders.

As cycling enthusiasts ourselves, we experienced first-hand how powerful electric bikes could be in everyday life. What started as commuting and leisure soon became something bigger: a way to explore more, move more, and enjoy the outdoors more often.

When we moved to Cambridge, UK that idea grew even stronger. Cycling wasn’t just transport there — it was a way of life. Bikes filled every street, path, and green space. It felt natural to build something within that culture.

So we did.

We started with e-bikes, with a particular focus on accessible, low step-through small frames — because they were surprisingly hard to find, yet essential for so many riders. From there, the range naturally expanded to include solutions for different riders, different families, and different stages of life.

Eventually, that thinking extended beyond cycling entirely.

If movement is good, and outdoor time is better, then why stop at bikes?

Our Journey

🚲 2024 | The Beginning

Straight Spoke started with a passion for cycling and a belief that electric bikes could help more people enjoy the outdoors, commute differently, and travel further with confidence. Our first collection focused on adult e-bikes, carefully selected to suit a wide range of riders and lifestyles.

🚴 2025 | Growing the Family

As our community grew, so did our range. We introduced kids' bikes and ride-ons, helping younger adventurers discover the freedom, confidence, and fun that comes with life on two wheels. What began as a cycling store was becoming a family destination.

🌳 2026 | Ride. Play. Explore.

In 2026, we expanded beyond cycling and embraced a bigger vision: active family living. Trampolines, climbing frames, and camping gear joined our range, bringing even more ways for families to stay active, play outdoors, and create lasting memories together.

✨ The Future

We're just getting started.

Our goal is to build the UK's favourite year-round family adventure store, continually adding new ways to help families get outdoors, stay active, and enjoy more time together.

The path ahead is full of possibilities, the journey continues...

Our Vision

We believe family life is better when it’s active, shared, and outdoors.

Our long-term vision is a world where everyday leisure is less screen-focused and more movement-led — where gardens become play spaces, weekends become mini-adventures, and activity becomes part of normal life again.

We care about practical sustainability too. Many of our products support lower-impact transport, healthier lifestyles, and longer-term wellbeing — for both people and the environment.

But above all, we care about simple things: getting outside, staying active, and doing it together.

Why Choose Straight Spoke

We’re straightforward by name and by nature.

We believe buying online should feel clear, honest, and human. No noise, no confusion — just well-chosen products that genuinely fit real family life.

As a family-run business, we understand that everyone’s needs are different. A lightweight step-through e-bike for easy city travel. A stable all-terrain bike for weekend exploring. A safe first bike for a child. Or a trampoline that turns a garden into a favourite place on earth.

Different people. Different stages. One shared idea: move more, enjoy more, together.

Straight Spoke is no longer just an e-bike store. It’s a growing world of active family living.
